Energy efficiency

Cyprus needs more energy-efficient homes and buildings to meet the demand to reduce CO2 emissions, reduce energy used in a household and help mitigate the effects of climate change.

If you’re not already building in timber frame, then perhaps take a look at the people who are. With the Code for Sustainable Homes becoming embedded in the way new homes are specified and built, can you afford to ignore the benefits of building in timber frame?

Timber frame is very responsive to market needs, so the commercial imperatives to cut costs and reduce waste can also continue to be met. In particular, the speed and efficiency of construction delivers the best economic solution for customers.

So, if you are interested in what timber frame can do for you: how timber frame can help you meet high levels of the Code, help you improve cash flow, efficiency and profitability, unlock the value from your sites in a way that is both fast and low-risk – then you will find useful information on the Website.

It is no surprise that our energy study given with the planning permits pass with flying colours exceeding all expectations of the regulations giving a U-value  of 0.23 whereas the regulation ask for a minimum of 0.85.

Method of construction

The timber framed wall panels carry the loads on the building to the foundations whilst the outer cladding provides decoration and weather protection. Cladding is a matter of choice; it can be stucco system, stone ect

Factory production of the timber frame panels ensures that they are accurately manufactured to precise tolerances in a controlled environment away from unpredictable weather. More specific, the type of timber used is imported mainly from U.S.A. or Canada of the species of Douglas Fir Lumber (D.F.L.) or S. Pine. or Hem. Fir or S.P.F., fumigated/factorised pressure treated, with moisture content not more than 12% and impregnated with suitable chemical substances and varnished for protection against termites, moisture, water and fire.

The timber frame panels are rapidly erected on site and, with trussed rafters forming the roof, a weathertight building can be created in a matter of days. This enables work to continue in protected conditions within the building whilst the outer cladding and roof finishes are applied.

The timber frame method of building gives designers flexibility in both layout and external appearance. High levels of thermal insulation are incorporated within the construction, reducing heating costs and conserving energy. In general, a timber frame house consists of: the foundation base, framework, roof, interior walls, floors, windows and doors, kitchen, plumbing, electrical works, garage, basement and heating and cooling system
